Trade Rumors are Boyle-ing
You gotta love Hockey Night In Canada in February. Not only do you get analysis of the previous periods, but you get everything hockey fans love. Information. With that being said, Mike Augello (@Mikeinbuffalo) tweeted information from Nick Kypreos stating that the Leafs are interested in Brian Boyle. This makes perfect sense for me as it was stated by Lou last month that the Leafs are looking to acquire a depth centre. He’s on the final year of his deal with a cap hit of 2$ mil. But besides the numbers, the size and the strength, there is one important thing that Boyle would bring to the Leafs. Experience. Hard earned veteran experience. Boyle knows the show and what it takes to make it to the top. He’s been deep in the playoffs with Tampa including a Stanley cup final in 2015. Don’t know how much it would take for him to come aboard but I think it would be a great addition.
Well would you look at that. For once, a different team allowed history besides the Leafs (sorry Colorado). Last night after making 32 saves, Henrik Lundquist reaches the milestone of 400 wins. Jeez that’s impressive and honestly it’s so satisfying after the stumbles he was having earlier on in the season. With a stat like that you have to think that he’s an automatic for the Hall of Fame whenever he decides to retire. For the time being, I’m sure the Rangers are loving his play as they truck their way on to the playoffs.
10 Game Point Streak For Griffith-Door
Ok I know that this is meant to be NHL news but I have to talk about this. So do you remember Seth Griffith? He’s had a nice little game of roster musical chairs this year wouldn’t you say? He gets waived by Boston and then the Leafs claim him. Then after playing three games with the Leafs, he gets waived and then Florida claims him. Then he gets a stretch of games with the Panthers and then the Leafs re-claim him again but send him right to the Marlies. Ok, are we all caught up? Good, let’s continue. Oh man is he having a time down there. After yesterday’s loss, Seth Griffth is currently riding a 10-game point streak. After this year with a lot of their stars from last year making the big team, the next wave of Marlies have been finding trouble putting it together. It’s great to see a waiver pick-up be such an impact player for the team. What’s Griffith’s future with the team, who knows? But it’s awesome to see the Marlies getting back to form (tune in on TSN 2 for some of their games).
